Goes with this video Chemistry 604: Word Equations and Balancing
https://www.gpb.org/chemistry-study-of-matter/episodes/604 |
Tuesday, March 17:
1. Using the notes and video from Monday, 3/16, complete the Balancing Equations Worksheet below. It is the second activity in the 604 paper packet given at school last week. If not, it can be found below. Feel free to do it on another sheet of paper if you cannot print. Please send me a copy of it completed via remind by 11:59 pm today, 3/17.
Special note* If you are sending multiple pages, please send them separately, otherwise they do not all come through.

1. Watch my video on balancing in the posts on google classroom. Olivia makes an appearance :-)
2. Complete the end of 604- Word Equation Worksheet (provided below). In the 604 packet, it is the last assignment. Many of you already finished it.
3. Go to Google Classroom at https://classroom.google.com/. Make an account and enter the code lx2xftb to join my class. Read my blog post. I would like you to post a reflection of your recent learning. This is how I will "assess" your learning today. Answer these questions in your post on google classroom:
What is the law of conservation of mass?
What is a coefficient?
What is a subscript?
What is the most difficult portion of balancing for you? aka Where do you get "stuck?"
What is the easiest part of balancing for you?

1. Here is another helpful video on balancing equations by Khan Academy. If you don't get it still, you absolutely should watch it!
https://www.khanacademy.org/science/chemistry/chemical-reactions-stoichiome/balancing-chemical-equations/v/balancing-chemical-equations-introduction
2. Follow this link to flipgrid: https://flipgrid.com/f018bdc2
This is a cool site where you can submit short videos. You can also download an app. The code is f018bdc2.
Create an account. Here is the assignment:Pick a balancing equation question from the "Word Equation Sheet" (that was to be finished on March 18). I want you to create a video that is less than 5 minutes (and can be goofy) on how to solve it! Include siblings/pets/parents if you want. I miss teaching all of you and I want to see your shining faces! :-) You can solve it on notebook paper, computer, whiteboard, etc. The possibilities are endless!

1. Today we will begin the 605 section, Chemistry 605: Types of Reactions and Predicting Products
Go to this website: https://www.gpb.org/chemistry-study-of-matter/episodes/605
Complete the note-taking guide (below).
2. Go to the Google Classroom link from Wednesday: https://classroom.google.com/.
-Make an account (if you haven't already) and enter the code lx2xftb to get to our class.
-Click on "classwork" at the middle/top of the page and click on "605 Note-Taking Guide."
-Here you will upload a picture of your note-taking guide. I'm trying to streamline where we turn in work and limit the number of reminds coming in as there are 100 of you! :-)
